James E. Tibone, M.D. is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in sports
medicine, shoulder, elbow, and knees. He earned his medical doctorate at Jefferson
Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after which he completed his surgical
internship and a residency at the Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California,
and was a Sports Medicine Fellow at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. Dr. Tibone is
the Medical Director of the University of Southern California Athletic Department.
He serves as an associate consultant to the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Lakers, LA Kings,
Los Angeles Angels and Anaheim Mighty Ducks. He was voted a 2010 “SUPER DOCTOR”
by Los Angeles Magazine.
Dr. Tibone is active in a number of professional medical societies and is a past
president at the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society. He is the North American
Editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is a member of the American
Medical Association, Gibbon Surgical Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons,
and American Orthopedic Association. Dr. Tibone has authored more than 65 publications
and 25 book chapters and has facilitated more than 130 lectures.
